Could someone recommend a good program to render text in 3D? I'd like to
be able to make text look like it's been made out of wood or stone, etc.
Thanks in advance.

how many eggs would 6 chickens lay in 7

If you can "coax" Pixar to sell you Typestry, you'd be a happy fellow

Specular's 3D Web Workshop looks mighty tasty. You get LogoMotion (3D
rendering engie for text and logos, Web edition), TextureScape (texture
generator, Web edition), and WebHands (a set of customizable graphic
elements such as buttons and dividers). All for about $150 ($250 if you
also want Adobe PageMill).

Buy a Umax scanner with a "Pro" bundle. They've still got stock on
Typestry 2, and they throw it in with a copy of 128, all on CD.

Bad News: You get one CD, no manuals. Also, I've had the worst luck
trying to get Typestry 2 to install and run under '95.

Prince,

Wrongo.....Just got the new Vista S-12 and it had a note attached advising that
Pixar has discontinued their Tapestry/128 products, and UMAX has been forced to
change the software that it gives you when yolu buy the scanner.,

Sorry, Mike, I didn't make myself clear enough. When you buy a Umax
from Publisher's Toolbox, you'll still get the Pixar software (at least,
until we run out of our stock on Pro bundles).

Ray Dream Designer will do 3D for you and will output the results in PS
format... very nice, very powerful, and very affordable (around $100).
Short of that, Assymetrix 3Df/x works ok (need pentium with lots of ram)
for about 50.00

...I'd like to point out to those interested, that if you don't want to
spend $$ and don't need a fancy GUI then you can get the beta version of
POV-RAY 3 which can use any TT font to create text... any texture, any
finish, embossed or carved out of somthing... or you can use blurred
images for a more rounded look. (A bit more work than many packages, but
lot's of flexibility)

Get it at http://www.povray.org
