I loaded Photoshop 6.0 on to my Windows 2000 machine (upgrade
version). When I open it up for the first time, everything is fine.
When I close out, I get an error message stating that "Adobe
Photoshop: Photoshop.exe - Unable to Locate DLL". I upgraded to 6.0.1
and it does the same thing. I un0-installed and re-installed about 5
times and the same problem every time. I used this same program from
the same disc on my last computer running Windows 2000 and everything
was fine. There is obviously a lot of DLLs that Photoshop cannot find
including: "GEAR32PD.dll, DECO_32.dll, Comp_32.dll,
EREGREG2.dll,INTELREG.dll, KPAPI32.dll". It is looking for these files
in different locations. "D:\Adobe\Photoshop
6;.;C:\WINNT\system;C:\WINNT\system32;C\WINNT\System32\WBEM;C:\Program
Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere." I searched on all of my drives for these
DLLs but could not find them. Judging by the last line of the error,
could this be a conflict with pcAnywhere?
Appreciate the help.

Those are not Photoshop DLLs.
Either you have a third party plugin that requires them, or your system
install is REALLY hosed.

Perharps I can shade some light on it. As long as I remember, DECO_32.dll
and Comp_32.dll were the parts of fractal compression programs from Altamira
Group (and previously from Iterated Systems). There was a Photoshop plugin
among them, and to my personal experience, they have a terrible uninstall -
once you remove one of their programs, all shared libraries get removed
without asking, so the rest of their programs do not work. Guess that's what
has happened.

Chris,
Thanks. I had a Photo Tools filter kit (try out) that was the problem.
I deleted them and it took care of it. Glad you hinted me to that
before I re-installed Windows 2000.
Thanks again.
