Whenever I photograph a sunset or strange light on a landscape, I have Turner in
my mind. (Apart from anything else, it gives me an excuse to have a photograph
which looks good but is technical crap. Some of Turner's paintings are technical
crap).
I've just watched the BBC programme on Turner. It didn't change my views. I want
to produce photographs that look like Turners.
Is there a plug-in which will turn one of my mediocre photographs into something
that will resemble a Turner?
Please?

ps: If there is such a plug-in - perhaps life is pointless. What is there left
to do?

Can you post a link to an example of a "Turner"? Maybe we could get
a better idea what you mean.

Thank goodness!
(I was just having a little joke after watching a programme about my favourite
painter, and wondered what the reaction might be. The "ps" says it all - if I
could do it with a plug-in, there would be no point. Besides, it isn't the brush
strokes I'm interested in, it is the vision of light & colour in a way that
makes the technical details irrelevant).

The following are useful. They show the paintings I mentioned above.

But please treat my request as a joke - following up all those other requests
for plug-ins to replace genius. It would be terrible if you COULD get one! But
although I really only do "straight" photography, I DO often have Turner in my
mind when I see interesting sun or weather.
Big wheels keep on turnin'
Proud Mary keep on burnin'....
The old Image Composer's Impressionist might do a passable job... maybe.

He wasn't very helpful when he found out my middle name is Jane.
Too bad one can't use Image Composer's Impressionist filter as a
Photoshop 6 filter.
That might have yielded interesting results had I been able to overcome
the perplexing
decisions Turner faced before painting each watercolor:
1. Peaches or cream wash for this image?
2. Blur left half of image or right half of image?
3. Confuse only 60% of my viewers or all of my viewers?
I do admire Turner's "Norham Castle, Sunrise" painting. It looks exactly
like my
frat house walls after a helluva party.
Yes.

Yes. ;-)))

No.
You absolutely CAN use it with PS 6, just raid it out of IC and install it
in your Plugins folder. Make sure you install the sub-folders within the
Impressionist folder in the exact layout they were in IC. You'll have lots
of brushes, papers and presets to play with!
Followed your advice and added Image Composer filter to Photoshop. Works
very well.
Adds some nice effects. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. Try the Pencil Sketch, Detailed Monochrome setting. I love
it.

Oh, you're naughty! :-) I really did a "whaaaaat" when I saw
the 'cubist' filter! LOL! I thought 'how in the heck can it do that'?
Great link! And it's freeware, too!
Oh my. I've submitted my request.
Jane
Thank you. A valuable resource, although unfortunately it doesn't (yet?) include
J M W Turner, surely one of the greatest ever British painters. In case it is
intended to add his style to the product, here is a useful site:
http://www.j-m-w-turner.co.uk/
I made the original post in precisely the same spirit as this product, having
just watched a television programme about my favourite painter.
A fool and their submitted request are soon parted.
I'm assuming the irony in my post just sailed right over your head? But
that's okay, my brand of humour doesn't necessarily cater to the lowest
common denominator.
