Flattening changes image

I have a multi layered TIFF image which I'd like to flatten to reduce file
size. Some layers have reduced opacity whicle others use color blend rather
than normal. When I flatten the image, it changes quite noticeably. Merge
down, either of all layers or one by one has the same effect. Saving as a
JPEG likewise. Is there some way to avoid this? I've also tried the old
trick of creating a new layer and then using alt+cntl+shift+e but that
doesn't paste into the new layer as it used to do. I'm using CS3. Help
please

Zoom to 100 percent. If the discrepancy goes away, then what you are
seeing is caused inaccuracies in PhotoShop's preview for certain layer
blending modes.

Photoshop saves time by applying the blending mode to the scaled version of
each layer, instead of doing the blend first, then scaling. This causes
differences when the result of the blend mode depends on fine detail.

go into the effects palette, the top one is BLENDING OPTIONS and tick the
check box that says "blend effects as a group"

if that doesn't work
select all >>copy merged>file new> and "save as"

Mike is right; at 100% it's fine.

Kabuki's method works well, so I'll ise that in future
