Elements 3 ... does it usurp all the file associations like E2 did? I
loaded E2 once (free copy with a digicam) and it assigned itself as the
default for all the files I usually open with Photoshop, which pissed
me off ... does 3 do the same? If so I won't bother loading it.
Painter Essentials 2.0 ... is this a supplement to Painter (like
brushes etc) or a separate stripped down program like Classic?
Couldn't find anything about this one on the net ... probably benign
enough though, right? (I have Painter IX)
nik Color Efex Pro 2.0 ... this looks like some color correction
filters for Photoshop ... any one recommend this? I can usually make
any needed color corrections with Curves but if there's something
special about this I'll try it.
Thanks.

It's the old "classic" version of Painter. If you have IX I'd give it
away to somone who doesn't know any better <g>

Carefully burn it to a CD. Make sure you print a nice picture on the
CD. Place it next to computer. Use it to stand cups of coffee on...

Many applications will force associations to themselves when installed.
Definitely poor gamesmanship, but the associations can be changed. But
why be pissed off?
