1. make a circular antialiased non-feathered selection on a new layer, the
size of the farkle you want.
2. Select the airbrush tool w/: zero hardness, 100% density, 25% opacity,
and a size about 1/4th of your selection.
3. Use the tool in the center of the selection (without moving it around)
4. Select the line tool on antialas, wit a width of 1.
5. Use the line tool to draw a cross in the middle of the selection that
extends all the way out to its edges.
6. Image/Blur/Blur as many times as you need to to get the effect you want.
I hope this is useful for somebody, I use it for "chromed"and "3D" text and
objects.

I first came across the term "farkle" in an airbrushing book. I've long
since forgotten the name, but I'm sure the word is in print.

David,
After my weak farkle jibe, I tried this out and, after minimal
modification, it looks pretty nice. I can now farkle forth freely!
Thanks for posting the tip.
Mike
For those who are totally confused, we're talking about a lens-flare/
Highlight which I had previously described as a "farkle" (but all of that is
in the subject, I guess) No one has actually responded to my post, they're
just making fun of my word...

From my American Heritage Dictionary, the only thing resembling a farkle is:
far·kle·ber·ry (fär“k…l-bµr”¶) n. A shrub or small tree (Vaccinium arboreum)
of the southeast United States, having leathery leaves and hard black berries.
Also called sparkleberry. [farkle (of unknown origin) + berry.]
David, unknow origin??? Maybe it's you??
