Recently...not being familiar with graphic programs...I used to copy and paste
an image from PS5 to Animation Shop, where I would use the fill command and
fill the background to transparency.
Since then, I've formated my system, and reinstalled PS5, however, I cant seem
to save any images with a transparent background. I turn the background
transparent and it looks fine, but one I save the file and reopen it, the
background is white. I've read some documentation, and ive tried
everything...I did the load pallete transperancy and then view transperancy,
but I still get the same result. Ive tried saving it to Jpeg images and to
GIF. Im thinking that maybee i have some of the sttings wrong or something.

After formatting the system, I also installed some other graphic programs...is
it possible that one of these progs contamitanet the file formats in some way
and caused them not too work properly in pain shop pro.

If someone would like to try and walk me thorugh some steps over ICQ..my icq
number is 1828499. or just e-mail me at n...@pyrotechsystems.com I could use
some good contacts who know
what they are doing when it comes to PS5 :-)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

The transparent (checkerboard pattern) is only a transparency used in
layers. Transparent backgrounds still have a color that will be marked as
transparent in this case white. If you view it in an editor such as PSP or
AShop it will show as what ever color is marked as transparent. If you
viewed it against another background you will not see the background in
something like you Internet browser. I have a tutorial on doing transparent
backgrounds if you want to take a look.

When you first start PSP 5, go to FILE, PREFERENCE, in there look
for TRANSPARENCY, in there you can change the setting of how you
want the transparency color to be, as default the setting are for
a white and grey GRID Scheme, but you can change that.
An Example, you have a Red TEXT on a Yellow background, and you
choose yellow as the color to be trasparent, ok, now if you open
the file in your browser you'll see only the RED Text.
( I advise you to use a background color as close as possible to
your web page.)
BYE i hope this help, if not have a look at my tutorial, HOW TO
GIF Transparency, in the TIPS page, and also Intro to Web Graphic
in the TUTORIALS page to get a better idea.
