PSP 8 sucks the big one....but try it for yourself

1. http://www.katz.ws/?q=paint

All the PSP v8.0's betas and finals are there as well as all releases and
betas of PSP7 (which does still totally rock)

Same here, Charlie. I have to laugh, because the only people saying good
things about PSP-8 are the same old people that were cheerleaders for
PSP-7.... well, not all of them :-)

C'mon Ron,
I don't care what conclusions you draw about me or anyone else. But as
a friendly tip I would only mention that posting a link to a website
(pirate or otherwise) is just that and nothing more.....

If we extrapolate on your faulty logic model I could post a link to the
Vatican and you would have to necessarily conclude that I was he Pope. Let
me break it to you easy.....I ain't the Pope!!!

Piracy is so incredibly lame.

1. Save yourself some time and hard drive space... all the betas of 8 are
scheduled to expire soon-- before the end of the month, IIRC. If you want to
try it, go to the Jasc site and d/l the trial--- it will run longer than any
beta
2. You know the folks from le...@jasc.com are probably reading this, you
dufus.
3.We are not talking about the national war debt here, we're talking about
less than 100 bucks, less than 50 if you're upgrading -- if you want it, try
it and then buy it, for heaven's sake. There's even a rebate.

Not sure, Charlie. When I post a link to http://adobe.com
and write - Adobe R_O_C_K_S!
these people get all bent out of shape :-)

Listen to what the Pee Ess Pee 8 poster child has to say, Charlie.

It's not everyone that gets to be a Pee Ess Pee 8 poster child, but then
has to attend Adobe Photoshop seminars, because Pee Ess Pee 8 is paving
the way to her stardom!!

No not really..

It is the half-baked PSP 8 that is so "totally lame"....

(1) Do you really enjoy the "treasure hunt" in PSP 8 trying to find old
familiar tools?
(2) How about the extended loading time?
(3) What about the "new learning curve" one is forced to hurdle just to do
the same old graphic manipulations we are all so familiar with in PSP 7?
(4) Oh..and what about the $$$ to "upgrade" to this POS product???

Jasc is screwing you guys (and ladies too!) in the ass with ..no kiss, no
hug, no KY jelly, no nothing.....

Charlie in Mississippi

ps- I loved Uni's remark about creating a finished animation with free
software while PSP was still loading!!!
Good stuff and it is all so damn true.............

NO. Neither I liked going thru school, college, etc. Nor learning to speak,
write, do math or guitar playing. So many difficult things I had to
"treasure hunt" thru life!!.

> (2) How about the extended loading time?

I can't stand having to wait 5 seconds for PSP8 to be ready.

> (3) What about the "new learning curve" one is forced to hurdle just to do

Unbearable. I loved to work with PSP7 perspective tool, also the
straightening tool, warp brush, barrel and pincushion distortion
corrections, etc. etc.

> (4) Oh..and what about the $$$ to "upgrade" to this POS product???

That's the worst part. 50 bucks!!! WHY! When I can download appz and warez
for free thanks to your "innocent" posting.

Actually, I said incredibly lame. I gave up my surfboard when I moved to the
west coast of Florida, dude. Not much surf in the Gulf, but the sunsets are
spectacular. And we know all about pirates here. But we prefer them on the
football field to Usenet.

> (1) Do you really enjoy the "treasure hunt" in PSP 8 trying to find old

Load the PSP7 workspace if you are logic challenged or too disturbed by
change to learn anything new.
Or create one of your very own that meets your own particular needs. I don't
mind change all that much myself. But then, maybe I'm not typical. In the
course of any one single day I probably use 10-15 different applications for
one thing or another- tools are all over the place. I just adjust and move
on.

> (2) How about the extended loading time?

I don't have a problem with it. It loads a hell of a lot faster than
Photoshop 7--
but the wait time for neither one is excessive. Ever load PeopleSoft or
Crystal Reports?
Software with many functions needs a little prep time. Get over it. We're
talking seconds.
In the case of my laptop and desktop, about 6. If your life is so busy you
can't spare
6 seconds, you don't have the time or focus to do creative work.

> (3) What about the "new learning curve" one is forced to hurdle just to do
> the same old graphic manipulations we are all so familiar with in PSP 7?

The only basic process that has changed in any truly dramatic way is the way
line drawing is handled. Don't exaggerate. But if you are talking about the
improvements to the tools that take a bit of time to master, there is ALWAYS
a tradeoff between increased power and function and the effort it takes to
learn to master that power. Again, if you have a problem opening your mind
to learning new ways to work, I would wonder how creative your design
process
might be.

4) Oh..and what about the $$$ to "upgrade" to this POS product???

You've got to be kidding, right? A $50 upgrade is NOTHING---

>
> Charlie in Mississippi
Well, that explains it.

BTW, I have never denied that I have and use many other software packages.
If you
visited my website you would learn that I atate there that I am a
card-carrying member
of NAPP. Only our resident recidivist would infer from my attendance at a
NAPP-
sponsored event as anything other than a desire to learn more about the
tools of my trade.

As it happens, I went to the Photoshop for Photographers event with Ben
Willmore
because I have always been largely a "painter" and "illustrator" though I
find
myself called upon to do more and more photography, both as models for
paintings
and for other purposes. It was a good session....one I'd recommend to any
photographer, no matter what image editor they use. Ben is a great
instructor
and knows his stuff.

Oh, and before you skulk around the Photoshop newsgroups to find things to
misquote-- yes, I will be at Photoshop World in September-- just as I was
last year.
I wish there was an equivalent gathering of PSP users, but there isn't.
The creative
energy that is generated in that kind of environment is really exciting.

Whether purchased, pirated, or just plain free, Uni's "artwork" serves
well as proof of his complete artistic ineptness.

Uni knows darn well the difference between free and pirated software.
One would need at least some strength of character, though, to care.
Uni cares not.

Five minutes after I posted my art:

"This is excellent work!"
"This is absolutely beautiful"

Now, move on, Brain.
