website or book(s) that contain good ideas for creative photo projects? I'm
pretty good with being able to follow tutorials, etc., but kind of lame on
the creative side. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Actually, no I don't know any specifically. But I find that when I need a
creative boost, just surfing other artists' sites that do digital artwork
will give me some ideas. There are lots of places to start, but one place
would be the Artist category at Yahoo. Also, If there are particular themes
that appeal to you.. there are sites on the web that specialize in different
themed art. For example, I like surreal art, so one place I start surfing
from is

which lists over 700 sites with Fantasy, Sci-fi, and surreal art.

FX magazine, mostly produced via PhotoShop but they're probably emulatable
by experienced PSP5 users. This magazine is heavily biased towards
PhotoShop - are there any similar magazines extant that have a PSP5 bias?

Digital Photo FX is certainly my favourite, and it is moving slightly
our way and starting to feature more PSP stuff. Though actually the
PhotoShop stuff usually works in PSP anyway.
Digital Photography Magazine (which I got published in ahem!) covers
more PSP, although its production values are a bit cheap
Computer Arts is very definitely high-end for the professionals, but the
mag is so inspirational.
These are of course all UK mags, dunno what you folks in the colonies
will do about getting them...
As for books, so far I've not come up with anything that really told me
anything. The trouble is with the books is either (a) they focus on the
digital camera side, or (b) they are too out of date.
Although I noted what you said about the "creative" side being the
harder part. I would recommend going down your library and collecting a
bunch of books on photography, how to paint/draw, how to read pictures.
These will fuel your creativity and give you the core techniques, then
you can develop your own digital skills.
