Sure Dave no problem at all. Nice job. Glad to have you lurking. Are you
aware that it's also possible to participate and post directly to the group
through Google Groups at Google?

Porter
Thanks for the heads up on how to get here through Google and for
posting the email I sent to you! Never tried getting here through
Google's groups before.

Now that you've managed to sneak in the back door, don't be a stranger.
Welcome to the group.

I like your work on this Barbara (mainly because it's not unlike mine,
he he). But you replaced the background entirely. I thought about that
quite a bit.
To make a "portrait" as the Challenge stated, yours is the best
approach. It looks like a real portrait. To leave the background with
the "head flowers" in it, the image is a better memory of the event.
So either route is okay I guess. Hell, now those people have it both
ways :-)
Ember
The Webshots outfit reduced image width from 892 to 800 pixels.
Apart from the obvious things, I tried to remove a few facial wrinkles
and areas of harshness.

Which reminds me. For longtime readers of this group, I'll add that the two
women in this challenge are actually Aunt Harriet's daughters. Both live a
considerable distance apart, and also a considerable distance away from Aunt
H, as well. All the delights and pleasures of close proximity to Aunt H,
fall to me. While they love their mom (a short, overly bejeweled, extremely
adorable, real piece of work) it's a geographical arrangement that's
probably not entirely by chance. :)

So Aunt Harriet is the small one in the man's lap?;-)
Are there _any_ jewels on the dog, never mind too many?

Well, actually, little Molly often sports a rather lovely circa fifties
rhinestone choker. It may be either hidden by her fur, or was simply in her
jewelcase at that moment. <big chuckle> However, the dog doesn't jingle
when she walks, or require armed guards in attendance when traveling down to
the local McDonalds for McNuggets. :)

Here's a version of your photo converted to a 'portrait' ...(26kb)

I'm looking and don't see any problem with the forehead . . . maybe needs
a bit more hair at 1 o'clock. Help me? He was cloned (not copied and
pasted) with a soft brush so it can't be the shadow line on the side of his
head. Anyhoo, I hope whatever it is doesn't get me an F - an E for effort
will do. :-)
Barb
You'll see it sooner or later. Try copying all three close-ups of that area
and placing them all side by side. Like I said, 'been there done that'.
Once you see it, you see it. :)) I'm finding it pretty hilarious that you
haven't caught it yet.
Hey Greg, I was nudging you to develop a sharper eye a week or two back.
Can you see it?
Porter
ohmgod, he's evolving into a conehead
It was a compliment.

Reducing the number of flowers wasn't good enough. Someone in abc-g
pointed out they still look like a deer rack!
I still like the flowers though, they lend sort of a festive mood. So
on this version I moved the flower vase over to the side :-)

I just discovered that if you have a Webshots album and add a picture
the whole URL changes! Not so good.

I see it now. Are you sure he didn't just lose more hair recently? :-)
Barb
Hey, you don't get multiple chances to get it right. 1 is enough.
