Hello,
Im a relative beginner, and have been using a Geforce1-DDR based agp card
for Lightwave. Ive decided to go the dual-monitor route. I use Win2k.

Im wondering if I can simply add a TNT2 PCI card to my current setup, and
use that for the second monitor? Will the limited feature set of the TNT2
effect the performance of my Geforce in lightwave? (ie: will the geforce
drop down to a TNT2 level ?). Or will the overall performance be
acceptable?

Am I simply better better off getting a Geforce2-MX with DualHead option?

Thanks in advance

It's not even certain you will get any OpenGL acceleration at all with a
dual card setup, go to this adress and read up on combinations that work and
doesn't work. I warn you, the "works" are a minority, sadly.

http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/ - everything there is to know about
multiple monitors on windows systems.

"A disappointment was the multi-monitor OpenGL support: as with most cards
on Windows 2000, you can run OpenGL applications on the primary monitor
without disabling secondary monitors. But in addition to this, Nvidia is one
of the few manufacturers who supports OpenGL acceleration on secondary
monitors as well. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't work with the
GeForce3, even though the Nvidia documentation states that you can mix
different chipsets."

"So if you need OpenGL on multiple monitors, you should stick to GeForce2 MX
cards. TNT/TNT2 combinations also work fine, but are a lot slower."

/Weyland - haven't got a primary geforce2 and a secondary whatever to
provide dual opengl

Wow, I guess I got lucky. I have an Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2 GTS as my primary
AGP card and use my old PCI Leadtek Winfast 2300 to run my second monitor.
Both monitors run OpenGl stuff just fine (the Geforce 2 card is obviously
faster). I didn't really research whether it would work or not, I just got
my hands on a second monitor unexpectadly and figured I'd give it a go with
my old vid card that I had recently replaced. It worked like a charm. How
lucky is that?!
