Maybe my cable company has garbage content, but there's nothing in
this group buy junk posts. Anyone else happen to be in NJ with
Optonline?
Optonline's news groups really suck!
For some reason most of the people thar frequented this group
have moved on for whatever reason. Maybe the SPAM chased them off.
At any rate, I think there may still be active web based forumns.
I just haven't gotten into that rehlm.
Some of us do still check this group just in case something comes up.

Nice to see you two here that I still know :)

We's hidin' in the woods . . .
Actually got a job through today that will probably have me drag
Lightwave out again as I'll be doing it from home.
Still serial dongled LW6.5 though :-)

There still seem to be a few of us that check the site for messages
(Hi Mark :-)
Verizon has dropped all binaries so I don't ever see that one anymore.
I'm trying to learn AutoCAD for my theater work. It is going very slowly.
I need to be more compatible with other people in the Biz, plus I bought
some really neat software that is integrated into Acad that is designed
for theatrical lighting. Once you have your scene lit with the IES lights
you can create all of your lighting cues within the software, or you can
hook up the lighting console to the computer and create the show on the
console. In addition it produces all of the paperwork that list all of the
circuits, channels, gel list etc. The catch is that you have to learn Acad
first :-(

I much prefer working in Lightwave and will still use it for everything
else.

We tend to pick the app that is appropriate for the look the producers
are aiming at. We've written tools for Flash that are being sold
around the world.
I'd like to go back to a 3D project. I'm getting bored just editing
and compositing.

FiberFX is much more stable in later builds, 9.5.1 in general is worth
playing with.
It is specifically designed to do exactly what you want to do.
There are 2 versions.
One is a plug-in for Autocad 8
And the other version has it built into an OEM version of Autocad 8
for $2500 you get a version of Autocad that suposedly has everything we
might need plus the LDA features.
It does most any schedule you might want down to cable runs if you like
and you can build light cues right in the software.
It has full visualization with photometric lights (including movers)
One of the coolest parts is that you can connect your lighting console to
the computer
and create your whole show.
I own it but haven't gotten my head around Autocad yet so I can't speak from
experiance.
If you buy it mention my name :-)
LDI is coming up (or has just happened) so there may be an LDI special price
available.
After writing all of this I realized that I said most of this in the earlier
post.
Oh well, here it is again.
