I am using the command line:

gnuplot -persist -geometry 1024x768 -xrm 'gnuplot*background:black' -
xrm 'gnuplot*axisColor:white' mytest.dem

This displays my colour bargraphs on a black background with white
gridlines but text, axis's and tics are not visible.

Changing gnuplot*textColor:white and gnuplot*line?Color:white does not
seem to have any effect.

Any ideas why this is not working?

I do not want to change the x11 default file since I am booting from a
livecd.

Thanks phil

Not really. But I can point out that while version 3.7 may have
required such external assistance to change plot colors, you can
do this and much more from inside a gnuplot session in verions 4.x

In your case, you could set the color of the axes, tics, and text
labels via
4.0:
set border 31 linetype <n>
4.2:
set border linecolor rgb "white"

You can also set the background to black from inside the session:

4.2:
set obj 1 rectangle behind from screen 0,0 to screen 1,1
set obj 1 fillstyle solid 1.0 fillcolor rgb "black"

Thanks, that worked great!. I found one issue, I was spelling color as
colour (Aust. spelling). Still no idea why some of the other options
didn't work. The only thing I can't change the text colour of is the
Key/Legend text but I can live without that.

Thanks for your help again.

Cheers Phil
