Hm. Pipe it through awk, perhaps? Should work on unix and OS/2, at least.
Otherwise you may have to generate separate files. I don't know if 3.6 (beta)

What version/command are you using?
In 3.5, 'splot' can do it (at least the question can be interpreted
so that the answer is 'yes') but 'plot' can't.
In 3.6, yes. for both 'plot' and 'splot'.

FYI, 3.6 beta has a plot 'file' every a[:b[:c[:d]]]
which plots every a'th point in every b'th line, starting at point c
in line d.

I love it, David! 3.6 seems to grow whenever I turn around to get some
sleep .. :-) (Oh -- is there a doc in gnu-info or inof-tex form planned
