I'm using Gimp 2.6.8 on a machine running Windows XP. My impression from the
documentation is that Gimp should be using the fonts in the Windows/fonts
directory. However there are fonts in this directory that Gimp isn't listing in
the font selector and fonts listed in the selector that aren't in the fonts
directory. I tried placing one of the missing fonts in the Gimp/fonts directory
in Documents and Settings, but this had no effect after refreshing the font
list, nor after restarting Gimp.

Where does Gimp keep it's fonts in Windows and how do I go about adding new
fonts for it to use?

Thanks.

Goto start\settings\control Panel and you shall find fonts. You will also see a
heap of icons. In File there is an options to add a new font. I have placed a
font I like called Iglesia and I call that up in Gimp - no trouble at all

same as the other post - all working here.

It might be a permissions issue. You need to be administrator in windows
to install fonts. *but* your local gimp folder should still work. see:

or XP might be broken try TweakUI (although from memory this is maybe
only for system fonts) see:
