can anyone recommend a mac app that will read the gimp's .xcf files?
or for that matter, p*m files, like pnms and ppms? i switch between
linux and macos often, and most of my imaging software on the mac
[photshop 6, portfolio 5] is annoyingly ignorant of *nix file formats.

help?

you could run mac on linux and share your home directory with the mac by
using the linux side as a fileserver. that way you could easily just
convert to what photoshop likes.

hopefully one day someone will write an xfc plugin for photoshop.

None that I'm aware of.

Try GraphicConverter at http://lemkesoft.com/us_gcabout.html - It reads
and writes a lot of Graphic Formats (including PBM/PGM/PPM) and exists
for both classic and osx. It's Shareware so you can try if it matches
your needs before buying anything.

Hope that helps...

GIMP itself is ported to Mac OSX. See www.macgimp.org.
Imagemagick is also running on Macos and can convert pnm and ppm.
