Computer Animation is just the same as any creative art... If you have fun
and love what you are doing...you can't go wrong. I got into the industry
about 10 years later than the norm, I certainly had to play a little
catch-up but I did it because I loved it. There are plenty of people within
the newsgroups and on the web that are always eager to help you with any
difficulties you encounter.
All the best,

I've just turned 43 and have been using 3DStudio professionally since
version 1, and AutoCad since version 2, so I'm going back a bit now.
I've also found the UK to be really ageist, even five years ago people
were asking me if I was a bit old to be 'doing computer stuff'. Yet when
I work with anyone from the USA the subject doesn't seem to arise, in
fact I know a few American guys around my age doing the same as me.
Having worked in studios with much younger artists, and despite only
looking about 38/39 I have to endure a bit of 'old Man' banter such as
"where have you parked your Zimmer frame ?". This normally comes from
an Acne textured Low Polygon youth who soon comes around when he has a
problem that his plug-ins can't solve.
I take this in good spirit though, as although the age thing is always
there, I can't say it's ever meant maliciously. But I can't understand
why in any other visual art (sculpture, oil painting, photography) age
is associated with experience.
