Slightly off-topic, but I figure you guys are in a good position to assess
this technology....

What is the current state of the art for scanning life size models of
clothing for 3D re-rendering and what technologies are best for producing
clean and complete triangle based meshes. I'm aware of purely photographic
based methods such as those of 3D-SOM as well as laser based time-of flight
methods and structured light. Are there any other technologies I should be
aware of.

Any pointers to up to date reviews would be really appreciated as would
hardware or system recommendations.

This is a pretty good scanner, a few years old now, but I guess still
very competitive in terms of quality:
