I am trying to layout a design and art bible for a game that me and a
friend would like to make. That games will require 2D art work with
some 3d effects. It will a mulitple ways of gameplay example fighting,
side-scroller, mystery-clue finding and puzzle. Now I have read many
books on game design but since I am more of a programmer I need help
placing my thought together and getting the down on paper with the
proper tools to use. Our budget is small and our time is short (most
game story). I have VC++ and Paintshop Pro 5.0. What else should I have
to make the artist part and programming part go smoother and faster.

I estimate 5 months to make the game.
The books that I have to help me is Dummies Windows game programming in
C++....what else should I have?

I think for creating an art bible you do have the first tool: paper.
Describe in words what you are after. Make crude sketches if that
helps. But you want to come up with basics like "cartoon-realism" or
"whimsical" or "pastel colors" so your artists have some guidance.
