I like the font used in all the headings of Idiot's Guide to something.
It looks like handwriting, but very easy to read. Is it a custom font or
I can find in Adobe FontFolio?

If it's not a Adobe font, is there a shareware or freeware substitute or
look-alike?

Thanks,

Peter Liu

The font used on the "Complete Idiots Guide" book series looks
like Futura Extra Black. However, Futura Extra Black looks
nothing like handwriting. I think you might be mixing up
the "Complete Idiots" series with the "For Dummies" book series.

There *is* a freeware font based on the "For Dummies" book
headers called "Dummies" but I can't remember where I saw it.

A funky monospaced font called "Hypewriter" has a passing
resemblance to it, although it's not based on it.

If you want "Hypewriter," e-mail me and I'll be glad to send it
to you. Be sure to remove the spamblock from my address.

Also, be sure to disregard the idiotic ad below.

In an earlier reply, I told you about a freeware font
called "Dummies." Well, I finally found the website where I had
seen it. It's at "Fonts Now":
http://members.xoom.com/fonts_now/

I'm still presuming that you meant the "Dummies" font, since you
described it as looking like handwriting. The "Complete Idiots"
font is Futura Extra Black, which you probably already have.
(Not sure, but I think it comes with Windows.)

If you need Futura Extra Black, e-mail me. Remove the spamblock
from my address.

Also, as I stated before, please disregard the stupid ad beneath
my message.

This is a great site. I have bookmarked and also downloaded the dummies
font although it's not what I have in mind. This is a nice and unique
looking font.

I checked the FontFolio we have here and I can only find "Futura Extra
Bold." Judging by the style of the typeface family, I don't think it's
Futura Extra Black. I don't the exact typeface term for it. The typeface
I see has more curve in the end of the sahpe instead of straight line
(kind of parrell all the way to the end) in all Futura types.

I wish I have a Complete Idiot's Guide book to scan it so you can see.

Can you e-mail to chanc...@yahoo.com so I can check to see it's the
font?

Thanks,

That font looks *nothing like* the font used in the front cover
titles of "Complete Idiots" books. The front cover of one of
these books can be found here:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0028616340.01.LZZZZZZZ.gif

I *still* say it looks like Futura Extra Black.

I went to our public library and happen to see one Complete Idiot's Guide
book, and I scanned the text for your reference.

Can someone identify it and tell me a place to get it?

Thanks,

He wasn't asking about the front cover. He said the "headers"
(to set the record straight).
