I think it's somewhat odd to use a serif font for a heading and sans-serif
font for copy text. Rather the opposite would be normal, though newspapers
often use serif fonts for both. On web pages, serif fonts in large sizes
make a strange appearance. Note that headings are by default bold, and this
strengthens the effect, as does the gross font size difference.
Galliard seems to have rather strong variation in thickness, and I wonder
_why_ you would want to imitate that font in headings. But which common
fonts did you try? Garamond might have similar properties without the
overall "fatness" (large basic thickness in large sizes).
