Hi all,

I have a strange problem. Some time ago (would you believe 2005?) I bought Font Creator 5.0. The software weas used to create deco fonts in my Mokum series. That stuff still works like a charm, but now I changed to new hardware. The company High-Logic has a retrieval service for lost activation codes.
Great, no problem!

But... they only keep customer data for 5 years. (2012-2005 = 7) so I'm up a certain creek. Anyone been there? How do I get a paddle?

Cheers

Richard

No way to dig around in the registry of the older machine to come up with
the original activation code?

Or maybe try Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder
(<http://portableapps.com/node/12610>), or one of its relatives?

Hi

Thanks for the replies. It does not seem to work that way. I contacted High-Logic and go the answer that "They no longer support version 5.0, and that I could upgrade to a later version."
Meaning I do not have to pay the full price.
I got an even bettrer idea, I switch to open source and don't pay anything!

Cheers

What open source software is equal to High Logic Font Creator?

That I have still to find out.

In the meantime I'm struggling with the facts that:
High-Logic does NOT have my mail address in their database but
High-Logic DOES have my mail address to send promotional materials to.

Weird

@Bill: I decided to give "the cloud" a try, meaning Fontstruct.

Sorry to read about this. At Match Software, we keep codes since 1999. But it is not as simple : often enough, customers are unable to specify the purchase year or any significant detail that would help locating the code. This happens most often because the person who bought changed company, or the company changed address and name... Besides, keeping over ten years of archives is often difficult, as systems and applications changes, and it is not always possible to port data.

Upon download, we do advise customers to create a backup CD and save the code onto it, but we keep receiving request for codes, because someone saved only the executable and not the message containing the code. I am in the process of implementing a code-free system, but it is easier said than done. Not to mention that still, some people will never create a backup, and cry baby when their computer crashes. We are human. Not being perfect is our nature...
