I am similarly in need of those characters, but I'm willing to use Adobe
Caslon or Garamond. I'm just not willing to pay $99 for seven
characters. I own both Adobe Caslon and Garamond regular, but I need the
"Alt-Regular" set to get the ligatures.

I'm now looking into using Corel Draw 5 to make the additional ligatures.
I've never done it, it looks long and difficult, but it beats $99 to get
the additional seven!

Cheers!

The 5 "f" ligatures come not on the Alt-Regular (or Alt-Italic) font files
but on the several "Expert" ones. In the case of Adobe Garamond, there are
6, since semibold is included. That's 30 characters for the price. You get
the elegant old style numerals as well, so that's 60 more, as well as true
small caps and matching punctuation. The Alt fonts have a few additional
ligatures, such as "ct", and a few decorative characters, mainly leaves.
You're soon below a $ per character!

Going "expert" is more than going to the 5 "f" ligatures". Anyway, you
already have "fi" and "fl" on your regular sets, but they're not
encoded for Windows. Certain font viewers will display them. FontMixer
will make them accessible if you're willing to give up other characters.
WordPerfect used to automatically convert fi and fl combos to the ligs,
using these hidden characters.

I've seen it done with Corel 3. I believe it took some time, but the
results were excellent.
