It's a waste of this server's space to talk about Garrick. I mean
think about the emulator technology. A 67 Alpha machine from 1984
could process the 8 bit graphics of tetris and PCM. The 1987 chip had
a couple enhancements, but for the most part it could not process
analog modulation. SO GARRICK HAS BETTER INSTALLATION CAPABILITIES?!?!
Its a stupid post, and I had about 30 people e-mail me asking about
the new alpha version.
Now I want to clarify anything that GARRICK posted in the media
section.
1)ATARI development of the S118 chip didnt come until 1992.
Before this chip was developed ATARI consoles used the S23 graphics
converter. Most emulator developers dont think about this and
manipulate graphics on S118 graphics chips.
2)Sega GNS systems were all 16 bit graphics. Sega tried to make
a "Classic" graphics conversion system, but in my opinion, failed
miserably. There was alot of controversey over the Alpha3 GCS. Most
people thought that SEGA had taken the chip right out of old M1's.
3)The old electronics in SEGA GNS were used because of budget
cuts in enginnering.
