[Wine] Problems running Starcraft and other 2D games

Hi guys,

I have a setup here that is a bit older:

500 MHz, 248 MB RAM, NV TNT 2 w/32MB
Linux 2.6, Xorg7

which should suffice very well for Starcraft.

It runs a bit slow, though, and other games in the same range (like
Dark Reign 1) are even slower.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Yeah, the missing DIB engine in wine. Basically, wine has to do a lot of
color depth conversions and the like, which ATM are _very_ slow.
Care to learn more? Have a look at recent issues of the Wine Weekly
News, or read the wine-devel archives
