Hi,

After running ./tools/wineinstall, I get:

*** Warning: X development files not found. Wine will be built without
*** X support, which currently does not work, and would probably not be
*** what you want anyway. You will need to install devel packages of
*** Xlib/Xfree86 at the very least.

Configure finished. Do 'make depend && make' to compile Wine.

Install the X development headers and try again.

Did this work, or not? Do I need these devel packages? This output seems
somewhat contradictory.

TIA,
Matt

In most cases you need the X libraries. Some few console programs also work
with the "ttydrv", and for some few user this may be sufficient, so
configure doesn't abort here.

Bye
