Is there a place to download Bernie to the Rescue? I tried bernie.gs
and seems to be gone.
I just purchased 2 iMac G3s - one with OS 9 and one with 10.4.11. But
now I can't find Bernie and I can't get Sweet16 to run (as Sweet16
required 10.5 onwards). I have purchased a license of Bernie and I
hope I can still get it to work on my iMac.
Thanks!

You can get the full Bernie ][ The Rescue Starter Kit that I prepared
many years ago from Syndicomm, but that may be more thatn you actually
want:

Hi,
Thanks!
This site has 2.0.2 development edition (?), and 3.0 consumer edition
(has this ever reached final?), I am downloading it to try. Didn't
find the last stable 2.6 version...
Thanks!
Tested: first web site has 3.0, 2nd one does not seem to work, 3rd one
I have tried before coming here...
As a Bernie user tracking the development all these years, 3.0 is
never finished. 2.6 is the last fully working version (which I used).
Thye Chien,
I was able to find, and download, version 2.6 of Bernie to the Rescue
here: http://web.archive.org/web/20090404204737/http://www.bernie.gs/Download/Parts/bernieconsumer.html
unfortunately I can't tell you if this copy works. I'm at work right
now and won't be able to try it out on my Mac until I get home
tonight.
Dean
Thye Chean,
I also downloaded Sweet 16 version 2.2.1 for OS X 10.4 from Sheppy's
website, if you'd like that to use on your iMac running OS x 10.4. I
can either e-mail it to you or give you the link to Sheppy's page that
I downloaded it from.

Hi Dean, thanks! The US link is not working... but Switzerland version
work! I am downloading it and will test it out!
2.6 is the last working version - 3.0 is always in "Preview", and the
Apple II screen in full screen mode is too small compared to 2.6
version.
Thanks!
Hi Dean,
I contacted Sheppy and got a copy from him, but it does not work on my
iMac. He said it is a bug for the old version but he is not fixing it
(which is understandable).
This version works better than the rest, thanks for the help!

In what way does v2.6 work better than v3.0p of Bernie?
- Alex
Thye Chean,
Glad to be able to help you get Bernie up and running on your iMac.
Dean
First thing - I always run Bernie on full screen. In 3.0p, the Apple
IIGS full screen is very small. It cannot run on 640x480 resolution,
but in 800x600 resolution it only shows the Apple IIGS screen on a
small window (probably 640x400) with a big border. In 2.6, it will
always switch to big 640x480 screen and the Mac looks like a real
Apple IIGS!
There are probably a few minor things on sound and other stuffs, but
2.6 always work perfect for me, and this is the last version
recommended on Bernie's site for download.

Isn't there a setting under display preferences somewhere that forces a
resolution change for full screen? I don't have access to a Mac running
OS 9, so I can't confirm for myself, but I was running v3.0p for years
without feeling there were any comprises to using against v2.6.
In fact, I helped test version 3 for Henrik, including the newer full
screen mode and testing that checked that previously troublesome games
worked under emulation.

The only thing missing from v3.0p was the intended 'save state' which
would have frozen the virtual IIGS when quitting Bernie and taking you
straight back to where you left off when you returned to it again.

If you read the readme file, 3.0p does not work for resolution lower
than 800x600. I can verify that the PowerMode in 800x600 screen looks
very small in 3.0p but great in 2.6. iMac G3 works perfect on 800x600
screen.
2.6 is a very polished version, and the version I recommended. I uses
Apple IIGS emulation daily and being Apple IIGS like is very important
to me.
