Is there a version of Emacs or XEmacs that runs on a tablet (iPad or other)?

I am not a great fan of touch sensitive keyboards and I am more at home with the Ctrl and Meta keys for Emacs power (which don't exist on a touch keyboard).

Can anyone recommend an appropriate mobile device that runs Emacs for a road warrior?

Thanks!

Well, for Android devices there is the "Hacker's Keyboard". It has
the full set of keys of a standard US keyboard, including Escape,
Control, Alt, cursor keys, and, on a separate plane, even function
keys.

The virtual keys are, of course, a bit smaller than with the Android
keyboard, so I use it only when I actually have to do things on the
servers that I need it for. But in these cases, it is the only thing
I know that gets the work done, be it with vi or (X)Emacs.

I would guess it runs on tablets, too (I use it with a Galaxy Nexus
myself), although its page on Google Play[1] doesn't tell. It
doesn't tell anything about restrictions either, so there may be
hope.

Oh, wait. You wanted to run Emacs *on* the tablet itself? That's a
different thing alright, and I don't know if it exists. But if it
exists, the Hacker's Keyboard might make a difference in using it.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I would recommend a netbook of sorts. The MacBook Air is a really great machine to hack on while on the road.
