The Department of Computer and Information Science invites applications for
two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level to pursue an
active research program, perform both undergraduate and graduate teaching,
and supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students. Areas of interest are computer
architecture, algorithms, databases, distributed systems, formal methods,
graphics, multimedia, and programming/software engineering environments.
Research opportunities exist in the Mississippi Center for Supercomputing
and the Center for Wireless Communications. Applicants must demonstrate
exceptional teaching ability and be potential contributors to the
department's Innovation in Education initiative. A Ph.D. or D.Sc. in
Computer Science is required and each candidate must provide evidence of
research potential as well as effective communication skills. The University
is located in the historic town of Oxford in the wooded hills of north
Mississippi. Oxford has a wonderful small-town atmosphere with affordable
housing and excellent schools. Deadline for applications is February 1,

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

Position: Assistant Professor (two will be hired)

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer
and Information Science; conduct basic and applied
research in the same; and advise M.S. and Ph.D. students.


Qualifications: Ph.D. or D.Sc. required in Computer Science; complete
vita and three letters of reference; published
evidence of research potential in a subset of computer
architecture, algorithms, databases, distributed
systems, formal methods, graphics, multimedia, or
programming/software engineering environments;
exceptional teaching ability; effective communication
skills; proof of legal authority to work in the United States;
breadth of background in Computer Science as
demonstrated by graduate course work.
