Position open: East Carolina University has reopened its position in
technical and professional communication and now has an open rank. We
encourage highly qualified applicants to submit applications for the
position. The advertisement, which appeared in the July 12 issue of the
Chronicle, reads: Tenure-track, rank open, in technical and professional
communication, starting August 19, 1997. Experience teaching in and
developing curricular materials for classrooms equipped with current
technology preferred. Also knowledge of Internet, including WWW, for
academic research and other purposes. Ph.D. with evidence of scholarly
potential required. Position open until filled; screening begins October
20, 1996. Send letter, vita, sample of scholarly writing, one-page
statement of teaching philosophy and research agenda, and three current
reference letters to Professor Donald Palumbo, Chair, Department of
English, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858-4353. An equal
