Compuware's PREDITOR for Windows and OS/2 (which is also used in Compuware's Xpediter+ COBOL Analysis and Debugging Workbench) has an ISPF emulation and it has several features that "real" ISPF doesn't. However, the emulation only supports editing(=2) and browsing(=1) functionality. It also supports searching across multiple files somewhat similar to ISPF's Search-For(=3.14). Xpediter+ also includes a File Transfer utility to Upload and Download files to/from the Mainframe, a COBOL Analyzer, a Job Manager, a Compile Manager (to start mainframe compiles from the workstation), and both a Batch and a CICS Debugger. If you are looking for a complete ISPF emulation including all the panels, etc. There is also Tritus/SPF and SPF/PC. Here is some information on Compuware's PREDITOR. Preditor is a programmable Programmers editor that supports C, C++ and several other languages (and it can be customized to support any language). It supports background compiles, hex editing, browsing using TAGS files, multiple file search & replace, Projects, Color Syntax Hilighting (for any language), 3 window modes (SDI, MDI and detached, which is like several SDI windows and a control panel which lists all the buffers (files)), and emulates Brief, VI, e-macs, ISPF, CUA and Native (SPE). Preditor is also *very* customizable, the "settings notebook" is very extensive and allows a lot of customization that either is not present, or requires programming in other editors. Also source is provided for all of the PEL routines (PEL is Preditor's macro language which is based on AWK) which makes up the bulk of the editors's functionality. Here is the Press release that announced the availability of Version 3.0, The current version is 3.02 and we are working on features for the next version (for which the release date has not yet been set): COMPUWARE PREDITOR 3.0 OFFERS PROGRAMMERS ADVANCED EDITING FOR WINDOWS 95 AND WINDOWS NT Extensive customization streamlines editing and boosts programmer productivity FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - May 29, 1996 -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) today announced the addition of Windows 95 and Windows NT support for Compuware PREDITOR.
