We're getting ready to move into a new facility, and are going to radically
upgrade our telecom services. We're currently considering a Nortel Meridian
switch with Meridian Mail (and Desktop Messaging), with local service
provided by AT&T Local Services here in Phoenix (was TCG until a few months
ago). The current plan is to order a PRI circuit with support for 8-10
simultaneous B-channel usage, all voice at the current time. The purpose of
the PRI (instead of a plain T-1) will be to support both Caller ID/ANI and
DID/DNIS services to the desktop phones.

Anyone out there with any gotchas, horror stories, or glowing reviews I
should be aware of?? :-)

Kevin - I have PRI w/ANI; works like a charm. I've also used TCG in
the past; they're very good. Have had some trouble with the equipment
that they dropped into our computer room; they tell me that that is
very unusual and replaced it. But overall, TCG is very good. You may
just want to mak sure that you put on your order that you do want ANI,
as they probably won't put it in there automatically.

You should definitely talk to your authorized Nortel distributor to confirm
this, but: in my experience, getting a standard ISDN PRI *voice T-1* from
your local phone company should give you 23B+D, and using the integrated
capabilities of the Nortel switch, DID/DNIS/CLID can be passed to a standard
digital display phone, like the M2616. Are you going to use 800 numbers? If
so, you don't have to worry about caller ID blocking, etc, you will get ANI
on every call. You shouldn't need to do any special, like configuring ISDN
BRI lines, ISDN phones, etc.
