I am having troubles connecting a second phone line to the house. The
telco has come out and installed the line to the house, but I am
having difficulties inside. The jacks use the standard red, green &
yellow, black configuration.

I cannont seem to get either connecting the yel, blk wires to the grn,
red posts in the modular outlet, or using a two line splitter plugin
jack to work. The phone works outside from the box, but not from any
jack in the house using these methods.

I am stumped. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Brent-

Are there any wires connected to the red and green posts for the second
line at the outside box, say the yellow and black pair you are trying to
connect inside? If the yellow and black are connected to the red and
green of the second line at the box, the only other thing it could be is
a break in the wire. Quite possibly the first outlet in the house has
only the red/grn connected, and the ylw/blk is not, which then does not
continue through the house to the jack you are trying to connect. Many
houses are wired in this series style, creating X-mas light syndrome.

Hope that helps!

So just run a new inside wire from the box to the new phone location.
Use regular el cheapo wire from the hardware store or Rat Snack.
