We have a KXT-D1232 and have begun using one of its
extensions for the first time. On all the other extensions,
when there is an incoming outside call, simply picking up
the phone picks up the CO line with the incoming call.

However, on this new extension, picking up the phone when
an incoming call is ringing on a CO line just picks up the
intercom. You have to push the CO button to answer it.

I've looked high and low in the programming manual and the
only thing I found was the line preference, which is currently
set to "ringing" on this and all other extensions.

How do I get this one extension to act like the others?
If the user picks up the phone to MAKE a call, they all get
intercom and require 9 for outside, which is fine. I'm just
looking for how to get this extension to answer the ringing
CO line when it is picked up, like all the other extensions do.

Thanks.

Ringing Line Preference is what you want. But as the other message
indicates, the extension does have to be ringing for that to work. If a co
does not actually ring on an extension, then the extension will still need
to push the proper co button (or dial 40 or 4*) to answer it.

If you want the ext to grab an outside line right away when you pick it up,
that is an easy thing to do:

Yeah, ringing was set to Disabled. I turned it on and it works fine now.
