I am going to be in some very remote locations for some time.I need to
remain in touch with my e-mail, home computer through an internet connection.
I am looking into using satelite's for this.
Does anybody have any recomendations or previous experience with this?

Thanks ~Chris

Nera Telecommunications makes a nice 18kg unit that does telephone, fax,
telex (ya never know..) and can do data up to 64kbps. It runs on the
Inmarsat B system. Its about the size of a large suitcase and has wheels
so dragging it around isn't too painful. You can call Mackay Communications
at +1 908 225 0909 for more info.

Chris, I've never tried the following product, but it's worth a look. NEC
has a well-deserved reputation for high-quality components, especially
those related to the satellite industry (my company, AvData Systems, is
NEC's North American partner for satellite communications equipment,
although we work with large earth-station hubs and router-like CPE). Good
luck!
