I would like to disable the meridian phones from ringing on outside incoming
calls, the norstar phones that we use dont ring so I was pretty sure that
there is a setting in the phone to change.

The meridian phones do still need to ring for internal calls.

Thanks,
Gord

that's easy, just change their number to one that is not in the did range.

Ok theres something I should clarify, I know this is an IT Professionals
forum, but I have no where else to turn, our company is not being supported
by our technician and its up to me to work out the phone system.

So basicaly I need to find out the terminology firstly, if anyone has a link
to a page for newbies, that would be great. But for right now I need to
find out how to "change their number to one that is not in the did range" as
a solution to my previously posted problem. If I need to post any
additional info about our systems please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Gord

ok a did number (direct inward dial) is one that can be dialed from the
public network. You purchase them in blocks. Usually a minimum of 10 or 20
up to whatever you need or your pocketbook can stand. So say you purchase
700-555-(1000-1999). Anyone with an extension between 1000 and 1999 can be
dialed without going through an attendant. Any number between 2000-8999,
assuming you use 9 for outgoing call, cannot be dialed directly from outside
the system unless the caller goes through a menu or an attendant. You
probably should just bite the bullet and pay somebody to do this for you, it
doesn't cost that much for programming on the system and you can concentrate
on what you do best.
