Just a question:

May I use the Web Cache Control Protocol using as Cache Engine an standard
proxy server?, over wich port speak wccp?

Probably I can do this same feature with route-maps & extended access-list,
but I like to know if can do it in this way in a more formal way.

TIA

No. Currently, WCCP is implemented as proprietary protocol.

AFAIK for anything other than the Cisco Cache Engine you'll have to
stick to route-maps, set next-hop, and ACLs for www, ftp, etc. The
Squid FAQ even covers it:

http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/FAQ/FAQ-5.html#ss5.8

Still very doable in a simple enough setup. Technically you're limited
to one server. There's ICP for parent/child/sibling hierarchies, though
that still has nothing to do with the router. It would be great to see
some sort of standard protocol between routers and cachers from multiple
vendors that redirects, detects if the cachers are down and switches
back to pass-through, cache farms, and other stuff... or at least 3rd
party support for WCCP. Anyone in-the-know about current or planned 3rd
party support for WCCP, or something related?
