The enable secret password is a encrypted password that overrides the plain
text password (i.e. when you do a show run). The enable secret is not
automatically generated, it must be entered throught the CLI. If you do
not know the enable secret password, you must do a password recovery to
remove the enable secret password from the config file.

If you didn't set the enable secret, than somebody did. The command to set
the enable password has no effect on the enable secret. You might wanna
ask around and see who did it.
If both are present, the enable password has no effect.
