Here is what I know:
Ethernet II is developed by Digital-Intel-Xerox.
IEEE 802.2 and IEEE 802.3 are newer standard defined by IEEE in 1985.
Now, what is the different between 802.2 and 802.3? It seems to me that
802.3 is hardware specification while 802.2 is frame format
specification. Right?
Novell's Ethernet_802.3 means IEEE 802.3 header followed by IPX header.
Novell's Ethernet_802.2 means IEEE 802.3 followed by IEEE 802.2, and is
default on Netware 4. Am I correct?
Now, who use Ethernet II specification?
When looking at Cisco Ethernet frame encapsulation information. ARPA
means Ethernet II. When I do a "show int ethernet 0", one of the lines
is:
-----------------
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)
-----------------
Does this means I am using Ethernet II frame encapsulation?
Thanks.
