Hi,
Iam Bindu. Iam working on the design of Digital Wrapper based on ITU-T
G.709.
I have a query regarding mapping 1Gb ethernet ports to the OPU-2
payload area.
There are 8 ports of 1Gb ethernet and all have to combinely produce
one OTU-2
My major question is how to multiplex 8 1Gbps signals to one 10Gbps
signal so that that can be mapped to OPU-2.
Thankyou.

Interesting.

You can use GFP-F to for each 1 GbE by using the linear
extension header and the CID field to separate the eight
signals. The adaptation function can then multiplex the
eight GFP-F streams into a single OPU2.

Cheers, Huub.

Hi Hubb,
thanks for the reply,
sorry, i could not understand your solution, can u tell me wat
adaptation function i can use.
i mean i will use GFP-F for each 1Gb port, then the all the 8 GFP-F
frames each running at 2.5Gbps have to be adapted to produce 10Gbps
signal......my question is how to adapt the data rate...do we have any
standard like concatenation before mapping to OPU-2 payload area.
Thank you,
Bindu.

This is an adaptation function that is described in ITU-T
recommendation G.7041 and G.783.

If you map a 1 GbE signal using GFP the resulting signal will
be a lttile more than 1 Gbit/s, not 2.5 Gbit/s.

If you use the linear extension header of GFP, you can
give each 1GbE signal its own CID.

The GFP-F packets can then be multiplexed into a single 10 Gbit/s
OPU2. the ports write data into buffers at 1 Gbit/s and the
buffers are read at 10 Gbit/s.

The data rate adaption is provided by inserting GFP Idle
frames if the 1 GbE ports have no data.

Cheers, Huub.

Hi Hubb,
ya i understood what u say but i have a request. I will send you the
exact design requirement and can you suggest me the solution as i feel
that iam understanding the requirement wrongly.
the requirement is
" The Muxponder should Multiplex 8-Nos. (max.) of Gigabit Ethernet
Data into a Single Stream of 10Gb/s.
The Multiplexing should be Done by Adopting Standard Multiplexing
Technique to form a Standard Module Such as
ODU-2 of ITU-T Rec. G.709.
Each Gigabit Ethernet Payload Data, Converted to Electrical Level
should be Aggregated into 10Gb/s Wavelength.
After Processing the Payload for FEC, Symbols are Mapped onto ODU-2
Payload, as per Super-FEC Algorithm as
Specified in the ITU-T G.975.1.
This Combined Output after ODU-2 Mapping as per G.709 is Assigned a
Discrete Wavelength in DWDM Grid as per
ITU-T Rec. G.694.1 to Interface a DWDM Mux"
i also got a solution but has few queries regarding the demultiplexing
at the receiver side.....if you can give me your mail id i can mail
you my solution so that you can correct it.
thankyou,
Bindu.
