Hello Huub,

I have a question about Performance Monitoring.

When a NE shall start a new 15-min period in case of creation a
cross-connect/starting the termination of a LP?

Suppose at some time user chooses to "drop" (terminate/enable) a VC-12
path. This shall enable PM monitoring for the specific Vc-12.

1. Shall the 15-min period begin/end at the time when the termination
starts/stops?
2. Or shall the 15-min periods run independently of the termination
(the termination can begin/end in the middle of 15-min interval in this
case). Shall these 15-min periods start at round time, like xx:00,
xx:15, xx:30, xx:45?

How 15-min period shall behave in case when a termination of the VC-12
is enabled, disabled and re-enabled within 15 minutes?

I think the first option is easier to implement, while the second one
might be easier to understand for the second user.
While I couldn't find the answer in neither in GR-253 nor in G0826, I
wonder if there is a standard that defines this behavior?

Thank you for your help,
Best Regards,
Alexander Kugel

Hello Alexander,

You asked:

The 15 minute period is related tot eh time of day timer set in the
network element (normally related to UTC).
Hence this is independent of any other actions in the NE like
creating cross-connects.

Yes.

No.

Yes.

Normally they do, yes.

The information for that period is marked invalid and could be
discarded.

You may take a look at M2110.

Cheers. Huub.
