Greetings all,

Here at Oklahoma State University, we have been using MRTG to monitor all of
our critical routers and devices. We had it set up on one particular
server, and then decided to install it on a dedicated server. Our problem
is that we want to take the statistics from our old server and combine them
together so we can see the yearly device history (our Director of
Telecommunications is a real stats junkie). I wrote a script to combine the
logfiles of a particular device and it's respective interfaces and tested it
thoroughly, and the new logs it created seem to look proper. I waited 24
hours because I saw somewhere that the yearly graphs are generated only once
a day. It's been over 24 hours and I still see on the yearly graph
beginning from August (when we moved to the new server), when it has all of
the data to graph all the way back for the whole year, and even back to
2001. Anyone have any ideas why it's ignoring the new logfile? Any help in
this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm in bart's shoes, 11 years later.

what is it in MRTG that build the graphs, from what data, held where?

I have /var/mrtg/logs collated from the data from the original server added to the new server data, but I only see the graphs showing stuff from the new server creation.

cheers

ian
