Here at Strategic Data Systems we standardized on the CODEX corporation modems
for use with the Wang VS, AS/400, and now PC's. It seems that we have a god
awful time getting these darn things to talk to other manufatcurere modems.
Are we just stupid or does the CODEX (a.k.a. motorola in the past) have
problems connecting with the standard defaults? Could it be that the CODEX
modems don't work well in the PC environments?
What was Codex Corporation is now Motorola Information Systems Group (ISG).
Try calling 800-365-6394 which I believe is customer support for retail
products.
Codex modems are generally considered to be quite reliable (even factoring
for my biased opinion). Hopefully it is a matter of the right
configuration.

What model CODEX modem are you using? I use a CODEX 2264 (9600 baud) and
I think I have it working o.k. I use it with Americal Online and Prodigy
as well as a bunch of other boards. If you need any info, I'd be glad to
help.

Early 2264s had problems with v.32 -- if you have one of these, then Codex
ought to provide you with a PROM upgrade.
The first 326x FAST modems had a proprietary 28.8kbps scheme. If *this*
is your case, then order the v.34 upgrades -- which work well.

Speaking only from personal experience, I wouldn't rule *anything* out! ;-)
