Hi All,

This old modem keeps hanging up every 30 min or so. Here are the logs,
anyone able to tell me why?

Cheers

- Al

Sure, the answer (or part of it) is right here...

That means you (or DUN actually) told the modem to disconnect. Idle activity
disconnects can do this. I have to wonder about this report though...

A final rate of "0" seems rather odd.

your receive and transmit signal power is relatively quite low, although your S/N
ratio is fine.

Would the low Rx Tx Pwr combined with the fact that it was DTR drop
suggest maybe DUN hanging up because of a poor line? Why else would
DUN hang up? It certainly aint me doing it....?

BTW: Its AOL7 on this PC....

PS: The modem disconnected shortly after I posted my last message with:

DUN would know nothing about a poor line. The modem is being commanded
to disconnect, and that suggests a configuration problem with your system.

This is a different reason for the disconnect. In this case the modem
coud not continue communicating with the remote (a failed retrain
attempt) and disconnected.

You might try lowering the sonnect speed if this is a common occurrance.

Maybe you are right - after all the line S/N Ratio is 47 sometime 48db
which is ok.

I have id'd the modem from the chipset and are trying the generic
driver.

Interestingly the sound card was being detected as a sound card and
also a modem. This was causing a second modem to install. so I have
removed the sound card and are fiddling now.

I don't trust much of the AT#UG output unless it is captured whilst
the modem is online.

Here are some other useless data:

<TX MOD=Unknown, TX SYMBOL RATE=3429, TX CARRIER FREQ=65535>
<RX MOD=Unknown, RX SYMBOL RATE=0, RX CARRIER FREQ=65535>
