I have a Power Mac and a Global Village Teleport Platinum modem. The
sound it makes when dialing and connecting sends one of my dogs diving for
cover everytime I use it. How do I turn the sound off?

If this modem is anything like other modems, adding "M0" (that's a zero)
to the dial or initialization string will shut the sound off.

If your modem uses the standard command set, "ATM0" (note: that's a
zero, not an oh) should do it...
