XP Fax Software Not Working

It seems I corrupted something in the XP Fax software -- I had sent a fax with
it on 1/9, so it did work. Later that day I installed fax software (Bitware)
that came with the modem, then found out it won't run on XP. Yesterday, when I
tried to send or receive a fax with the XP fax software, it would not work. I
then uninstalled Bitware (which required some manual uninstalling), but the XP
fax software still does not work.This may have nothing to do with Bitware, as I
have done other installs and upgrades in the last month. Is there a way to just
reinstall the fax software portion of XP?

I learned after sending this message that I could uninstall Windows components
in the Control Panel - Add and Remove programs. Did that with Fax, then
reinstalled. But the fax software still can't successfuly send or receive.
