If it reassures you any, OpTel is working on "cable" modem service.
(They already have it in some complexes in the Houston area.)

Thought that was cool.

It may just be that the complex has an internal network. If it was
recently remodeled, and the owner is a computer type person, it may have
been easier to wire it all at the remodeling time.
I have also seen at least one complex that did more than this. They then
used Linux IPMasq and squid to allow web browsing. They only charged
$2.00/month extra for the "service", which was connected first via 128k
ISDN lines to an ISP, and then later with a cablemodem (yes, they paid
buisness rates, and the cable ISP knew about it. ).. used dhcp to dole
out addresses internally.)
And no. They dont have any avail. (know someone thats been on a waiting
list for a while to get in)

There is some new apartments in the small town of Buckingham sp? just
south of the beer stores. Can not remember the name of the street or
the apartments. One thing I do remember is that the apartments were
high priced. When I looked at the apartments there is a sign stating
they have cable modems. I did ask the sales rep and she said she could
give me some info but she did not know anything about it.
