I guess, my previous message never came in the net..so again:
(hope, i don't nerve anyone)
We want to combine different LAN's via fiberoptic cable (Monomode)
to the Internet. looks like this:
LAN 1
|
| abt. 3 km
|
Internet -Pop-------LAN 2
-------LAN 3
now..what kind of equippment would you prefer to do a fast, secure
and cheap (the usual things :-) )connection between the LAN's and the
pop ? Only TCP/IP is to be sent via the connection. I guess, a thing
like a Bridge with ethernet-port and FOIRL on the other side would
be enough for the LAN's, but what kind of thing do i need then for the
pop? Is it possible at all to use a bridge when i have a distance
from more than 3 km ? Should I go to FDDI-Backbone? hmmmm...
all not so easy..(btw: the LAN's shouldn't be visible to each other
if not using TCP/IP)
any help would be appreciated,
so thanx in advance
Gunther
