I need to know the wiring diagram for the RJ11 to RJ45 cable.
The wall outlet is a RJ11 and the ISDN input to the router is a RJ45.

Another question is can I just use a 4 wire phone line cable between the two
connectors, since the RJ45 connector on the router is ungrounded.

No one I could find carries this cable I called 43 local Computer Dealers,
Service&Repair, Networking companies (Every Dealer in Town) :(

My router is a 3COM - 3C410017(US). If you need that information.

Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Nore C.

In 99% of cases you can simply plug in a standard rj-11/14 connectorized
cord into both jacks and it'll work.

The reason is that even though an rj45 jack has 8 pins, only the two
center ones are used for the isdn circuit.

Similarly, in an rj-14 (4 pin) jack, the two center ones are used for the
primary circuit, while the two outer ones would be used for (either line
#2 or some other feature).

Anyway, what this means is that when you plug your rj-14 cable into the
rj-45 jack, it should properly align and hit the two center pins.

A couple of notes on this:

Most, but not all, rj-45 jacks will accept, _and "latch"_, an
rj-14 plug. But some won't quite fit.

and..., it's just slightly more possible that the edges of the
rj-14 plug will bend the outer pins of the rj-45 jack. this shouldn's make
a difference in your router since only the two innermost pins mean
anything, but it can cause difficulties in other situations.

In short, it's worth a looksee.

I used a standard RJ11/14 phone cable as you sugested and it worked. The
RJ45 connector on the router is designed for the RJ11 also.

Thanks for the help.

That's an easy one -
The 8 Pin Modular Jack (RJ45) has pins 4 & 5 active.
The 4 Pin Modular Jack (RJ11) has pins 2 & 3 active.

RJ45/ 12345678 RJ11/ 1234
