Can you please tell me what are the major differences between Sybase and
Oracle. We are a medium sized enterprise trying to select a database
Engine. What should we be looking for ?

I appreciate all your help

Thank you

The learning curve on administering the Sybase environment is a bit
less steep - not to mention the concepts you learn when working with
Sybase tend to be based on good, sound architecture principles.

Can't say the same for that mainframe port called oracle <grin>

Cheers,
Howie

Hello,

I am trying to find out whether Oracle has something equivalent to the
Sybase Open Client and Open Server library.

Would someone know the names of the corresponding Oracle products? Are
they as powerful as those in Sybase?

Thank you for your help.

OCI (Oracle Call Interface) is equivalent to Sybase Open Client,
though not as flexible. Oracle does not, and probably never will
have Server APIs unless they change their architecture.
